Just finished bottling the English Bitter, which we’ve named the Big Ol’ Bitter. Tasted a little sweet from a little sample I snuck out while racking. Not sure how it should have tasted, but not like what I remembered from England. I loved the bitters that we had when we were in London, so that was really what I was hoping this would turn out like. I used the extract recipe kit from Northern Brewer. It’s going to condition over the next couple weeks and will be drinkable at Christmas. So now I have the Motoroila Coffee Porter and the Big Ol’ Bitter to drink around Ye Olde Christmas Tree.
In other news, secondary fermented Kelly’s Grateful Hefe today. Tomorrow is the second official EMBA brew meeting, and I’ll be working on the Winter Warmer. This will be my second high gravity beer to make. I was hoping I would have completed my setup with my wort chiller, but I ordered the wrong size tubing, so I’ll have to wait until next time to use my 15 gallon brew pot and wort chiller. That will be with the Number 8 recipe, a Belgian dark strong ale. Probably going to brew that in Memphis with my brother and brother in law.
I hope to see many folks out for the EMBA brew meeting tomorrow. If you plan on coming, bring a couple of your recent homebrews so we can pass them around.
Just tasted the Hefe, and it’s gonna be good. Can’t wait to drink it from the bottle in 2 weeks.
And the bottle carriers look pretty good if I do say so myself….
